Uses: 
1. In Hair Care Products: It is an alkaline, organic salt and is primarily used as an ingredient in hair straightening products. It helps to break and reform the disulfide bonds in hair proteins, allowing the hair to be reshaped into a straighter form. 

2. It may also be used in depilatory systems, where it could help in softening and breaking down the hair structure to facilitate its removal.

3. As a Fire Retardant: Guanidine carbonate is mainly used for making wood and textiles fire retardant. It works by releasing ammonia and carbon dioxide when heated, which can dilute the combustible gases and oxygen around the material, thus suppressing the combustion process. It may also form a char layer on the surface of the material, which acts as a barrier and reduces the heat transfer and the access of oxygen to the underlying material, further enhancing the fire retardant effect.

4. Guanidine carbonate is used in carbon fiber composites as a processing additive. It helps improve the interface bonding between carbon fibers and the resin matrix, enhancing the overall mechanical properties of the composite.
